1905 Zino’s Palace

An historical

place to stay

This charming building is one of the few romantic style properties in Madeira and is, therefore, an important example of the Island’s architectural heritage.

The Palace and its chapel – Capela de Santo António, were built at the end of the 19th century with the purpose of being used as the summer house of the Zino family, taking advantage of the excellent climate of the area. Later the palace was used by the state as an Elementary Practical School of Agriculture in Madeira and lat on as a Primary School. After having been abandoned since 1976, the restoration and enhancement work on the Zino Palacete and the Santo António Chapel in 2002, dignified this important building, its history, and its architecture.
